n8n - Advanced orchestration of digital businesses

This course will take you from simple connecting applications to masterfully orchestrating digital systems. We present n8n here as a "digital brain" capable of unifying a wide variety of tools, databases, and AI models into a single seamless and intelligent whole.

You’ll learn to design complex scenarios that not only passively transfer data but also independently make decisions, communicate, and execute tasks across your entire infrastructure. Instead of isolated automations, we’ll focus on building cohesive ecosystems where autonomous AI agents and data flows take center stage—and thanks to the tool’s open-source nature, you’ll have full control over them.

This course is intended for

This course is designed for visionaries, analysts, and modern professionals who no longer want to be limited by closed systems and want to manage their company’s digital processes like a conductor leading an orchestra.

It is the ideal choice for project managers, IT specialists, data analysts, and creative consultants who are looking for maximum flexibility in integrating services without the need for in-depth programming.

If you can logically break down a work process into individual steps and are interested in discovering new ways to integrate artificial intelligence into real-world operations, this course is for you. Previous coding experience is a welcome bonus, but not a requirement—n8n is built on intuitive visual logic that anyone who loves efficiency and smart solutions can quickly master.

Syllabus

Day 1: Architect of Non-linear Processes

  1. Module:The Anatomy of n8n and “Hello World”
  • Node Logic: The difference between a Trigger and an Action.
  • User Interface: How to navigate the infinite canvas and how real-time execution works.
  • First Workflow: Automatically downloading data from Google Sheets and formatting it.
  1. Module: JSON – Fuel for n8n
  • Data Structure: Why n8n views data as “objects” and how to work with them.
  • Edit Fields Node (Set): The key to data transformation. How to rename, delete, or create new fields during the flow.
  • Understanding Items: How n8n processes multiple rows of data at once.
  1. Module: Dynamics and Expressions
  • Data Mapping: How to drag and drop values between nodes without writing code.
  • Basics of Expressions: Simple mathematical and text operations within fields.
  • Working with Time and Date: Formatting dates for various applications.
  1. Module: Logical Branching and Loops
  • IF and Switch Nodes: How to route data along different paths based on conditions.
  • Looping: How to efficiently process lists (e.g., send an email to every contact in a table).
  • Merge node: Merging data from two different sources into a single flow.

Day 2: Integrator and AI Engineer

  1. Module: Webhooks and API (External World)
  • Webhook Node: How to teach n8n to "listen" for events from other applications (e.g., a form being submitted on a website).
  • HTTP Request: How to connect to any service that doesn't have its own icon in n8n (universal connector).
  • Authentication: Secure storage of passwords and API keys (Credentials).
  1. Module: AI Layer – LLM in Production
  • AI Nodes in n8n: The difference between a simple chat and integrating an LLM (OpenAI, Anthropic, Gemini) into a workflow.
  • Prompt Engineering in Nodes: How to dynamically construct prompts for AI from data that has flowed through previous steps.
  • Data Extraction: How to have AI extract important information from unstructured emails into a table.
  1. Module:LangChain and Autonomous Agents
  • AI Agent Node: Building an agent that has “tools” at its disposal.
  • Memory & Knowledge: How to give the agent a memory of the previous conversation and how to connect it to its own documents (Vector Stores).
  • Agent Chaining: An introduction to more complex systems where one agent prepares materials for another.
  1. Module: Stability and Error Handling
  • Debugging: How to review execution history and identify errors in the data.
  • Error Workflow: How to set up automatic notifications (e.g., via Telegram) if a process fails.
  • Best Practices: Organizing workflows using tags and versioning.

Students will be able to

  • Set up automation that integrates CRM, tables, email, and communication tools (Slack/Teams).
  • Create an AI agent that answers customer inquiries based on internal PDF documents.
  • Fix a dysfunctional process using knowledge of working with data objects.

Course requirements

  • Basic AI knowledge at the level of course OKAI-120 – Unlock the potential of AI.
  • Analytical thinking – the ability to break down a work process into individual steps.
  • Your own developer tenant (M365 Developer Program) – the instructor will help you set it up before the course.
  • Knowledge of JavaScript is not required, but is an advantage for advanced expressions.
